Translation Services FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Hopefully, most of your questions will have been answered
in the buying guide, but if not, here are a few more common
questions that are often asked about translation services:
What is the cost of a translation?
There is no standard price for translations. Translation projects
are billed according to material, length, source and target
languages as well as formatting and deadline requirements.
How can I be certain to get high-quality standard?
Your choice of translator should reflect your quality requirements.
A specialised translation company will provide higher quality
service than a general freelancer. See "Choosing an appropriate
translator" for further information.
Where do I get translation services for low prices?
If price is a greater concern than quality, choose a freelancer
(or translation agency). Generally, freelancers offer lower
prices than translation companies.
How long does it take?
Translators should be able to translate 5 standard pages or
2000 words of standard text per day, less if the content of
the document is difficult. Very urgent translations can be
done within 24 hours (at an extra charge). Note, however,
that the work might not be of high quality if there is not
enough time for diligence and quality control. Generally,
use the following guideline: "A document that has taken three
weeks to write should not be translated in an hour!"
